These guys are annoying because they will heal themselves if you
stop attacking them. If it looks like they are hugging themselves,
then dodge away because spikes will come from their bodies. They
can also cause spikes to come out of the floor. Rarely, they will
spit poison at you.
Stay at a distance, and blast them with your shotgun or your
Throwing Daggers until their health is in the red. Then move in
and attack with your sword. Don't stop until they are dead, or
they will run off and regenerate.
